Our favorite Pittsburgh icon.

As you know, we print our own shirts. So naturally, the These Pistons designs aren’t the only kind that we put on shirts. Back in September, Autumn had a great idea for a slogan that I later brought to life. It was originally supposed to be a novelty one-of-a-kind until an opportunity for something a little adventurous came up. Her idea was an homage to our favorite local icon, Rick Sebak. You might recognize him from his exceptional documentaries for WQED. (Most of which highlight the greatest and sometimes little-known facts about our hometown of Pittsburgh.) If you still don’t know who he is…shame on you…or perhaps you need to hear his voice to make the connection.

This is the design that we collaboratively created.

We ended up rushing two of these into production late one Saturday night in anticipation of one of Rick’s local appearances at the WQED Flea Market at the studios in Oakland. The experience was unforgettable and Rick seemed very charmed to have his picture appear on the shirts of two young fans. He even blogged about the experience and mentioned These Pistons. We were beyond words to see that he linked to our mainpage from his blog. Thank you again, Rick.

Check out his most recent blog featuring me and Autumn!

We may be in works with WQED to sell these through their store. Until then…let us know if you would be interested in purchasing one. Perhaps we can make a small pressing and donate portions straight to WQED and the Pittsburgh Public Broadcasting System. They need help to continue bringing great programming like Rick’s documentaries.
